Globally Aliaxis has a goal to reach 100% renewable electricity by 2025 to help us reduce our CO2 emissions by 75% per tonne of production on our sites.
We are pleased to announce that as of the November 2021, Marley New Zealand (as part of the Aliaxis group) has joined Meridian Energy’s Certified Renewable Energy programme. We’re proud to be with Meridian because they’re leaders in sustainability and are committed to only generating electricity from 100% renewable sources – wind, water and sun.
Meridian’s Certified Renewable Energy product allows us to purchase renewable energy certificates to verify that the amount of electricity we use from the grid is matched on an annual basis with electricity produced from Meridian’s certified hydro stations and wind farms.
Committing to this programme enables Aliaxis NZ to report our Scope 2 electricity emissions as zero*.
By supporting this programme we hope other businesses will get on board to drive demand for renewable energy and enable all other energy generators to invest in renewable energy and drive New Zealand towards its own goal of 100% renewable energy by 2030.

Other Initiatives
As part of our commitment to ecologically sustainable development (ESD) principles, we measure ourselves against the following criteria:
- Water and resource conservation – Marley has installed systems to enable reuse of water, closely monitors water leakage and additional water settling facilities.
- Recycling Programs – Marley runs recycling programs with industry partners where plastic pipes from site are returned to Marley for recycling.
- Energy consumption and management – Marley is committed to the reduction of its energy consumption and has targets in place to ensure this is achieved.
- Avoiding the use of environmentally damaging raw materials – No lead or cadmium stabilisers and pigments are used in the Marley product process.
- Waste minimisation by recycling process materials – Between 2007 and 2013 Marley reduced its waste to landfill by 57% and now only 1% of production waste goes to landfill.
- Pollution reduction – Marley does not discharge any trade waste into the public storm water system
