Design Challenge: Achieve a metallic look without rusting.
This quaint eight year old home is hidden amongst one of Auckland’s biggest suburbs, Manurewa. Built from scratch, home owner James was unimpressed that his current metal spouting and downpipe system had begun to rust after only five years. The spouting was also too narrow and not coping with the rainfall regularly experienced in Auckland. That’s when James decided to make a change for the better! He noticed an ad for the Marley Stratus Design Series® and has never looked back.
The Marley Stratus Design Series® makes a complimentary addition to any residence. James chose Marley’s Typhoon® half-round spouting and RP80® 80mm round downpipes in Copper. He wanted the Copper option as it complimented the brick cladding, and added a subtle, yet stylish edge to neatly finish off a beautiful home.
Marley has risen to the challenge to produce a product which is low maintenance and durable against Auckland’s variable weather conditions. The larger spouting can handle Auckland’s heavy downpours and the external bracket option makes it a cinch to clear any leaves and debris. Its stylish and adds value to any house.

Flowing finish
Just as jewellery completes your outfit, so the right spouting and downpipes offer the finishing touch for your home. New hybrid metal finishes create an upmarket look that will really last, and complement the cladding and roofing of traditional and modern houses.
This contemporary bach by architect Nick Robbers of Haarlem Developments is a good example.
Given the coastal location, I specified Marley uPVC spouting and downpipes as they never corrode, even in the most extreme sea spray zones.
“We were pleased with the result and so was the client. The Titanium not only looked sharp, but the use of unseen internal brackets was cohesive with the clean-lined design of the house,” he says.
There are many pluses to specifying the Marley Stratus Design Series® besides style without compromise, says Marley marketing executive Donna Mackay.
“This spouting and downpipe system will not rust, rot or corrode. It is also low maintenance, easy to install and designed for New Zealand’s climate conditions. With the planet in mind, all Marley systems are 100% recyclable and have a peace-of-mind 15-year guarantee.”
